SPEEDRUN.COM LEADERBOARDS

Global Rules:

  • Time starts upon selecting New Game and ends upon the game’s logo appearing at the end of the credits
    • You can also start time from power on and end upon the final save being written, but note that your time will automatically be converted on this leaderboard
  • Turbo:
    • On the English version, turbo is not allowed
    • On the Japanese version, turbo is allowed due to the NicoNico Leaderboards historically allowing it
  • You are allowed to use calculators and Minstrel Song calculation apps during runs
  • Video proof is required for all runs submitted
    • Videos that are locked behind a paywall are not allowed
  • On emulator:
    • The use of turbo, speed-up, and doing anything otherwise not possible on a real console is not allowed

Conversion between timing standards will be done by ffvd_games if it hasn’t been done already.

Category Rules:

  • No HDD/BBUnit
    • This is for runs that don’t use the PS2 HDD/BBUnit
    • New Game+ is not allowed
  • HDD/BBUnit
    • This is for runs that do use the PS2 HDD/BBUnit
      • If you’re using OPL, you are not allowed to change the settings to anything beyond what HDLoader can do
    • New Game+ is not allowed
  • PSArchives
    • This is for runs that use the Japanese PSArchives version of the game
    • New Game+ is not allowed
    • Note that some runs may have been misplaced here as of 8/5/2021. If this has occurred, please DM me on Twitter and I will move the run in question to the No HDD/BBUnit category ASAP.
  • New Game+
    • The use of New Game+ is allowed
    • Any system is allowed, but you must note which system you used and if you use a HDD or not
      • Note that this will change to be split by system/HDD in the future once there are more runners
    • You must note how many times you’ve completed the game with the save data you used in the run (# of Laps)
  • All Stories
    • Complete all 8 scenarios
      • Due to the length of the run, you are allowed to take a 12 hour break every 12 hours during the run
        • It would be preferred if you did a run in one or two sittings back-to-back, but it will not invalidate the run as long as your breaks are not excessively often or long
    • Time ends upon the 8th character’s final save being created
    • The use of New Game+ is not allowed
    • Any system is allowed, but you must note which system you used and if you use a HDD or not

For TA Runs:

  • In-game time is used. Time ends upon the final save being created
  • A written route with your notes is required for all runs submitted
    • You must also provide exact stats for things like damage dealt, combo order, equipment changes, etc.
  • Video proof is not required, though it helps strengthen the veracity of your run
  • Turbo is allowed
  • On emulator:
    • You are allowed to look at memory, but only to see the current in-game time
      • This can be used when submitting runs, but only directly after the final save has been created

For Challenge Runs:

  • [Protagonist] – No Attack Techniques
    • Using attack techniques in battle is prohibited
      • You may do things like gather rapiers for fishing
    • Any system is allowed, but you must note which system you used and if you use a HDD or not
      • If you’re using OPL, you are not allowed to change the settings to anything beyond what HDLoader can do
  • Barhal RTA – No Turbo
    • This category is exclusive to Sif
    • Time ends upon obtaining the Dragon’s Eye
    • You must have Albert in your party
    • The use of turbo is banned
    • The use of the PS2 HDD/BBUnit is not allowed
    • Note that some usernames may be incorrect as of 8/5/2021. If this has occurred, please DM me on Twitter and I will correct the username in question ASAP.
  • Barhal RTA – Turbo
    • This category is exclusive to Sif
    • Time ends upon obtaining the Dragon’s Eye
    • You must have Albert in your party
    • The use of turbo is allowed
    • The use of the PS2 HDD/BBUnit is not allowed

  • Old Sword RTA – Normal Mode
    • Time ends upon obtaining the rusty old sword
    • Any system is allowed, but you must note which system you used and if you use a HDD or not
      • If you’re using OPL, you are not allowed to change the settings to anything beyond what HDLoader can do
    • Any protagonist is allowed
  • Old Sword RTA – Hard Mode
    • Time ends upon obtaining the rusty old sword
    • You are not allowed to move faster than X-button walking speed
      • You are not allowed to touch the left analogue stick at all because of this
      • If you walk faster than this, you will incur a 5 second penalty for each second you do it
        • You can’t “forget” to walk slowly and take the penalty
      • If you run at all, the entire speedrun will be invalid
    • Any system is allowed, but you must note which system you used and if you use a HDD or not
      • If you’re using OPL, you are not allowed to change the settings to anything beyond what HDLoader can do
    • Any protagonist is allowed
  • 10 FateStone Saruin RTA
    • Time begins upon selecting your clear data
    • Gather all 10 FateStones and defeat Saruin
      • This can only be done with NG+
    • You must note how many times you’ve completed the game with the save data you used in the run (# of Laps)
    • Any protagonist is allowed, but you must note which protagonist was used
    • Any system is allowed, but you must note which system you used and if you use a HDD or not
      • If you’re using OPL, you are not allowed to change the settings to anything beyond what HDLoader can do
